12th Street Project Team
Road Closure Updates - November 2022

The City of Topeka and its construction contractor for the 12th Street Project, Bettis Asphalt, met Friday morning, Nov. 4, 2022, to discuss the status and realistic completion date for the project.
Due to delays caused by resolving underground utility conflicts and delays in receiving water main components from manufacturers, 12th Street between SW Oakley and SW Gage will not be open to through traffic in 2022. However, local access will continue to be maintained for local residents.
The details of direction of travel and driving surfaces available during the winter will not be known until the end of November.
To update residents, the City is planning a public meeting during the first week of December. You will be notified by mail and a notice on your door regarding a meeting.
We recognize that construction in this stretch of 12th has been particularly disruptive. As you have seen, there are many very large underground storage structures that have needed to be worked around for water and sanitary sewer work to be completed. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
If you have any questions about the public meeting, call David Bevens at (785) 368-1642. For questions about construction, contact Stuart Hazard at (785) 640-0267.
